Generative Yoga builds on the foundation of hatha (physical) yoga with creative, intuitive sequencing aligned to the natural fluidity of the body. This practice balances vinyasa sequences with periods of pulsation and pausing. It can be adjusted to be more strong and dynamic, or more gentle and restorative, depending on how you are feeling and where you are in your practice. It is suitable for beginners to advanced students. At the end of the session there is the option to participate in at least 5 minutes seated meditation.
A common misconception is that in order to do yoga one needs to be ‘super flexible’. This is not the case. Be kind and gentle to your body and it will open in its own time and way. Yoga is designed to support, strengthen, soften and expand your body in the ways that it needs. So rather than trying to push your body to reach a ‘perfect’ form, yoga should be tailored to suit how you need to be at any moment in time. It is a journey of intimate, intuitive inquiry, rather than one of trying to reach a preconceived, ideal goal.
Yoga is a way of life, rather than a quick fix. Regular yoga practice is recommended to receive the benefits of yoga to body and mind. Overtime, yoga will bring you to the space of meditation: a homecoming to the wisdom, stillness and silence of the heart – the source of your being.
